Julie is a writer, designer & certified mindfulness meditation coach & mindfulness-based stress reduction teacher (MBSR). She is the founder of Savvy Sassy Mindful.
Julie began her career in public relations contributing to a wide variety of women’s health campaigns for major pharmaceutical and wellness organizations. She later launched a public relations practice, where she managed communications for prominent New York State hospitals while providing brand development and marketing strategies for women-owned businesses anchored in the arts and creative industries.
As a medical & lifestyle writer and columnist, Julie also served as an editor at the Times Herald Record and a contributor for a wide-variety of publications.
In 2005, fulfilling a dream of planning events, Julie transitioned into wedding & event design. After working with countless couples, she recognized a void in the wedding industry and wanted to provide more — particularly for stressed brides. She later incorporated a wellness component into her business model.
Julie began practicing mindfulness meditation over two decades ago. In 2017, she began her formal inquiry at the School of Practical Philosophy. Furthering her exploration of the nature of the mind, Julie studied all stages of the Buddhist Path under the direct guidance of Lodro Rinzler while earning her mindfulness meditation teaching certification.
Inspired by her interest in neuroscience and the work of Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD, founder of the Stress Reduction Clinic and the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Julie completed the Level 1 MBSR Teacher training pathway at Brown University and is qualified to teach MBSR.
Julie provides contemporary mindfulness meditation programs to help women create a life infused with authenticity, style, self-expression and abundant joy. Savvy Sassy Mindful is a culmination of her wisdom, spirituality, personal experiences and expertise.
natasja desanders
Natasja DeSanders has been a dance teacher for over 28 years and is a certified yoga instructor. After graduating from The Academy of Theatre and Dance a faculty of the Amsterdam University and the Nel Roos Ballet Academy, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. She came to the United States to continue her training and perform at the Dance Theatre of Harlem in New York.
After studying with master yoga teacher Swami Buaji at the Indo-American Yoga Vedanta Society, inc. in New York City she was inspired and created an Introduction to Dance and Yoga at the Bedford Stuyvesant Early Childhood Development Center, Inc. in Brooklyn, NY for approximately 5000 students.
Ms. DeSanders founded the Children’s Dance Workshop, a Brooklyn-based dance, and yoga studio (1998-2006). She teaches Dance and Hatha Yoga at The Figure Skating in Harlem organization in New York City.
Ms. DeSanders teaches virtual Hatha Yoga every Saturday at the TajAnanda Yoga Studio. With her multi-lingual, multi-cultural perspective, Ms. DeSanders believes that everybody can learn how to dance and that yoga is for everybody. Yoga brings one’s mind, body, and spirit into balance.
